Mount Rigi is a mountain in central Switzerland, bordering Lucerne, and part of the Swiss Alps. It’s also known as the “Queen of the Mountains.” Rigi offers stunning panoramic views and is famous for its beautiful sunrises.
It was a major highlight in our European Splendor trip this March 2015. We first drove to to Vitznau and then took the cogwheel train up to “Rigi-Kulm.” Everyone just went crazy playing with snow!
The view from this so called Queen of the Mountains was simply breathtaking since you see a charming panorama of the city including that of Lake Lucerne. We entered a grotto which leads to a restaurant and some of us took coffee to warm us.
It was a further fun filled experience as we exited the other side of the building for another view and experience of the snow. We even met some Swiss tourists who told us we were lucky to get a sunny snow day so it was not as chilly and the views were truly picturesque
On the way down, we took a ride back to Rigi-Kaltbad and from there tried the cable car to Weggis station where our motor coach was parked.
